At Clicklease, we’re proud to work alongside innovative manufacturers like Novae, helping their dealer network connect more customers with the trailers they need. By offering fast, simple equipment leasing options, we make it possible for business owners to get quality Novae products without the heavy upfront cost. It’s partnerships like this that drive growth for dealers, empower entrepreneurs, and keep the trailer industry moving forward.

What started as a small operation building trailers with limited resources has grown into Novae, a leader and trailblazer in the trailer industry. This growth stems from a commitment to innovation and building strong relationships. A few people have witnessed this growth from the very ground up. Among them is Tony Wilkinson, whose journey at Novae took him from the assembly line to Vice President of Sales.

Tony Wilkinson didn’t plan on joining the trailer industry—his journey started with a simple passion for hunting. “About 25 years ago, my hunting partner Chad Ousley, who’s still with Novae today, asked me to help at Sure-Trac so we could get back to the woods sooner,” Tony explains. “That’s how I became Sure-Trac’s second hire, working mornings before my other job.” Tony quickly threw himself into every aspect of the business. “I ran the assembly department when it was just me,” he recalls. “We handled assembly, welding, shipping, and painting. Those experiences shaped how I approach the business today.”

Novae’s growth has been fueled by strong organic growth paired with strategic acquisitions that expanded its reach and diversified its offerings. Starting with Sure-Trac in Indiana in the year 2000, the company acquired H&H Trailers in Iowa in 2017 to serve the Central Plains market, followed by CAM Superline in Pennsylvania and Trailerman in Missouri that same year. By 2020, Novae addressed logistical challenges with the acquisition of ITI Cargo, strengthening its position in the enclosed trailer market. Later, adding Midsota  in Minnesota and LOOK Trailers allowed Novae to extend its reach nationwide. Each acquisition was guided by a focus on improving dealer offerings and improving operational efficiency.

Relationships have been a cornerstone of Novae’s success from day one. “The true test of a relationship isn’t when things are going well—it’s when challenges arise,” Tony says. This philosophy has shaped Novae’s culture and dealer partnerships. Tony’s people-first approach cultivates trust and collaboration. “It doesn’t matter if you’re the CEO or the janitor—everyone deserves respect,” he explains. These close relationships often extend beyond business. “My family has spent weekends with dealers at the lake. It’s those connections that make the work rewarding.”

When Novae’s founder, Steve Bermes, incorporated the company in 1995, he had a singular goal: leveraging innovation to provide quality products and outstanding service. The name “Novae” reflects this mission, inspired by the Latin root for innovation. From building mower sulkies and modular tool storage systems to reimagining trailer manufacturing, innovation has always been central to Novae’s success. This commitment continues to set the company apart in a competitive market.

As Novae continues to grow, its foundation of innovation, relationships, and integrity remains solid. For Tony Wilkinson, the journey has always been about more than building trailers—it’s about creating something meaningful and lasting. With this goal, Novae has become a strong leader in the trailer manufacturing industry and an example of how innovation and relationships can drive sustainable success.
