At Clicklease, we love seeing family-owned businesses grow from humble beginnings into industry leaders. Metuchen Mower is a perfect example of how dedication, innovation, and a focus on customer relationships can turn a small garage operation into a trusted regional dealership. By providing smart equipment leasing options, we help businesses like Metuchen Mower get the tools they need to expand, serve their communities, and thrive in a competitive marketplace.

From Garage Roots to Regional Recognition
Step inside Metuchen Mower on any weekday morning and you will likely find a landscaper talking shop over a coffee, a commercial crew loading up for the day, and a team of knowledgeable staff preparing the next delivery of zero-turn mowers, parts, and service orders. What you will not find are gimmicks, impersonal sales tactics, or any hint of corporate detachment. This is a place rooted in legacy, built by hand, and grown with intention.

The story of Metuchen Mower began humbly in 1972, in the small garage of a New Jersey home. Founder Ben Bisogne, an entrepreneur with a mechanical know-how and a work ethic to match, started out fixing small engines for neighborhood homeowners. What began as a side hustle grew slowly and steadily into a full-fledged business. By the mid-1970s, Bisogne had taken on his first brand partnerships, including industry stables like Toro and Snapper. Over the decades, his single-bay garage operation grew into what is now a 5,000-square-foot showroom and service center, serving Metuchen and the surrounding regions with an unmatched reputation.

A Son Returns With a Vision
Now, fifty years later, that legacy is being carried forward by the next generation. Ben’s son, Thomas Bisogne, serves as Director of Sales and Co-Owner. With a background in corporate retail and a lifetime of lived experience inside the family business, Thomas is bridging the old-school values of hands-on service with the speed and precision of modern sales operations.

“I grew up here, literally,” says Thomas, seated in the same office where his father once ran the business. “I was the kid playing in the showroom while my dad worked. I would watch him interact with customers and even as a child, I found myself thinking, ‘That deal is going to make us money,’ or ‘That one won’t.’ It was instinctive. And that intuition never really left.”

After Thomas pursued his own career for a time, working for larger corporations with rigid structures and defined processes, he returned to Metuchen Mower with a new vision. During his early years back in the business, he shadowed his father and immersed himself in every part of the operation. He brought with him a passion for streamlining systems and increasing visibility through strategic promotions.

Old School Meets Digital Speed
“I wanted to modernize where it made sense,” Thomas explains. “That meant investing in a website where you could buy our equipment. That meant improving how we manage parts, how we handle inventory, how quickly we can respond to our customers’ needs. I’ve always believed in going above and beyond to carve out market share, even in a crowded field.”

Helping to reshape that field is Robert Smolarski, Director of Marketing and Co-Owner, who joined the leadership team with a professional background in digital marketing. Like Thomas, Robert did not come from a traditional dealership world. But his skill set has proven to be exactly what Metuchen Mower needed to expand its presence in a rapidly evolving market.

“This business was built, not bought,” Robert says firmly. “It was built from scratch. The dedication and heart of the business is something customers can feel when they walk in.”

The Power of Real Relationships
According to Robert, Metuchen Mower’s success is not just about equipment. It is about the people behind the counter who know your name, remember the quirks of your mower, and genuinely want to see your business thrive.

“Metuchen Mower builds relationships with our customers,” he says. “We are not transactional. We are about partnerships.”

That spirit is captured in the company’s motto: Your Partner in Performance. For Metuchen Mower, that means supporting the people who rise at dawn to care for lawns, parks, and properties across New Jersey. Whether it is a solo operator just starting out or a multi-crew landscaping business with a fleet of trucks, the team at Metuchen Mower treats each customer like a collaborator.

More Than Sales: Support That Sticks
“These are people building their own empires,” Robert says. “They are hustling. They are dealing with the ups and downs of running their business and they still show up every morning to do the job. We see them. We respect them. And we work hard to help them get the tools and support they need.”

That support sometimes comes in the form of creative equipment financing or equipment servicing. It can also mean simply offering honest advice to help a landscaper make the right purchase. According to Thomas, it all comes down to trust.

The Next Chapter of Growth
Both Thomas and Robert are deeply committed to keeping Metuchen Mower at the forefront of the industry’s digital transformation. “We want to be the leading landscaping dealership in the country when it comes to digital connection,” says Robert. “When I talk to our manufacturing partners and connect with their marketing teams, they are often surprised to hear someone on the dealership side who speaks their language. We understand digital and that gives us a huge competitive edge.”

Looking ahead, Metuchen Mower is focused on scaling responsibly and remaining grounded in the values that shaped its beginnings. The company continues to attract new customers from across the region, while remaining a fixture for long-time clients who have been with them for decades.

Legacy With Soul
“Empathy is everything,” says Robert. “We know what it is like to start small because this place started small. We understand what it means to grow year after year, one sale at a time. We are here to help others do the same.”

When you walk out of their showroom, chances are you will remember exactly how they made you feel and know they will be there for you every step of your journey.

Whether you’re updating your fleet, expanding your service offerings, or investing in new technology, Clicklease makes it simple to get the equipment you need without tying up capital. Metuchen Mower leverages these options to keep their showroom stocked with top-tier mowers and parts.
